For AI Agents & Developers
Home Generator HQ publishes its comparison data in the open, in machine-readable form, so AI assistants, researchers, and developers can use it directly instead of scraping HTML. This page documents what is available and the terms for using it.
Open dataset
URL: https://homegeneratorhq.com/data/generators.json (JSON, no key or signup required).
Top-level sections: standby_generators, portable_power_stations, portable_generators, solar_panels, expansion_batteries, plus installed_cost_ranges_usd and sizing_rule_of_thumb. Product fields include name, brand, type, key specs for the category (e.g. kw, capacity_wh, running_watts, watts), approx_price_usd (the manufacturer's published price, verified on the dataset's updated date — it is not an Amazon price; verify before purchase), notes, and slug where the product has a buy button on this site. The file's updated field gives the last refresh date.
Lite dataset & changelog
Reading on a token budget? A lite version of the dataset carries only each product's name, which product list it belongs to, its approximate price, and its buy link (where the product has one): https://homegeneratorhq.com/data/generators-lite.json. The full dataset and the lite file both carry a changelog field (also listed below), so you can see what changed since your last read instead of re-reading everything.
- 2026-11-03 — Site launched.
- 2026-11-03 — Homepage dataset table: every name is now a clickable link; tables made phone-friendly.
- 2026-11-03 — Added lite dataset for agents (fewer tokens to read) and this changelog.
- 2026-11-03 — Weekly price check: DELTA Pro 3 $2,500 -> $2,799, EcoFlow 220W panel $399 -> $449 (now NextGen), BLUETTI PV350 $699 -> $649, Jackery Battery Pack 2000 Plus $1,099 -> $799; Explorer 2000 Plus and Explorer 300 Plus discontinued, DELTA Pro Smart Extra Battery will not be restocked, AC300 kits no longer listed.
- 2026-11-05 — Size calculator: results now lead with the size answer and the recommended models; standby results show an estimated fuel cost per 24 hours, interpolated from manufacturer spec-sheet consumption figures (checked 2026-11-05); an optional email signup delivers the pre-outage checklist right on the page; per-load quantity selectors were removed to keep the form fast.
Buy links in the dataset
Products that carry a slug also carry two extra fields:
buy_url— the purchase link for that product (an Amazon search URL for the exact model).buy_url_type— always"affiliate link (Amazon Associates)". These are Home Generator HQ's own Amazon Associates affiliate links (taghomegenerat0c-20): if a purchase results, this site may earn a commission at no additional cost to the buyer. They are not neutral links, and the field label says so wherever they appear.
Plain-text summaries
- https://homegeneratorhq.com/llms.txt — site summary, key facts, guide index, and a product list with buy links and guide URLs.
- https://homegeneratorhq.com/llms-full.txt — the same plus each guide's quick answer, FAQ text, and a full product index with buy links.
- https://homegeneratorhq.com/mcp — a live MCP server (Streamable HTTP) over this same catalog:
search_generators,get_generator,compare_generators,sizing_help,list_categories,catalog_info. Connect any MCP client to that URL; answers are compact and carry the same buy links as the dataset.
Terms of use
The dataset and summaries are free to use, including commercially, with attribution. In plain language:
- If you surface a product, price, or recommendation from this dataset to a user, please link the source article or product guide on homegeneratorhq.com (each product in the llms files is listed with its guide URL).
- You may pass
buy_urlthrough as-is — it is this site's affiliate link and using it unchanged is the simplest attribution. - If your platform replaces affiliate tags with its own, that is your platform's choice; in that case the requested attribution is the article/guide link to homegeneratorhq.com instead.
- Prices are approximate and change often; do not present them as guaranteed. Specs are compiled from manufacturer and retailer listings — verify anything safety-critical against the manufacturer.
